Abstract

Currently, PT.Pertamina EP Asset 1 jambi fields is developing production of natural gas development, this is because the potential of the gas that has been discovered five years ago can not be produced because there is no side that wants to buy the gas. But now there PLN who aware of the use gas as an energy source can be used as alternative in the electricity supply to the area jambi. So now PT.Pertamina EP Asset 1 jambi field began producing natural gas contained in Sungai Gelam to be sold to PLN. Gas obtained from gas wells in Sungai Gelam can not be sent directly to PLN because it still contains impurities, then the results of natural gas wells more than that gas must first be processed in order to meet the requirements of the employeement contract by the PLN. One of the conditions of the water vapor content of the gas should not be more than 20 lbs/MMSC. Thus in SP gas Sungai Gelam field there is a tool that serves to remove moisture, that is dehydration unit (DHU). Water removal process consist of several stages ranging from the absorption of water using Dessicant, drying and regeneration. That is why necessary tools to be abel to absorb the water contained in natural gas. Dehydration unit (DHU) is used in the sungai gelam field using solid dessicant molecular sieve type. But the existence of this tool will be evaluated whether it is appropriate or not to dry natural gas in sungai gelam field,so water content can meet the requirements of PLN. Evaluation is done by a comparison between the content of water vapor in the gas before entering the DHU (inlet) and after entering (outlets) so it will be revealed how large DHU ability absorption of these, as well as the ability to fullfill the contract with PLN.
