Abstract

The World Health Organization (WHO) announced Tuberculosis (TB) is to be a public health problem. The purpose of this study is to analyze the Correlation between the Physical Environmental of the House and the Incidence of Pulmonary Tuberculosis in the River Basin Area, Ilir Barat I District, Palembang. The secondary datawas retrieved from the Public Health Office, the total of patients was suspected pulmonary tuberculosis in the Ilir Barat I subdistrict in 2022, as many as 321 patients. This study use a case control study design with the Simple Random Sampling (SRS) technique with a ratio of 1: 2 for each sample in the case group and control group of 81 respondents through medical records, interviews and direct measurements of the physical condition of the respondent's house, with respondents aged (15-65 years) based on inclusion and exclusion criteria as for the tools used for measuring the physical environmental of the house, such as the rollmeter, hygrothermometer and lux meter. Analyzing data was used univariately, bivariately using the chi-square test and multivariate using the multiple logistic regression test with the most dominant factor model. The results showed natural lighting (p-value 1.000) and occupant density (p-value 0.681), while Air humidity (p-value 0.327) and type of floor (p-value 0.093) were not related to the incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis. While the ventilation area of the house (p-value 0.009) is related to the incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis, and the multivariate analysis shows the result that the ventilation variable (p-value = 0.006) is the dominant variable after controlling for the variables of lighting, occupant density, humidity and type of floor Therefore, it is suggested to the public to keep the physical environmental of the house healthy and observing to the type of ventilation used so that circulation remains in good condition in order to avoid the proliferation of mycobacterium tuberculosis germs
