Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of air humidity and air temperature on ENSO and IOD in Palembang City. The data used are data on relative humidity and air temperature as a result of measurements from the BMKG class 1 climatology station in Palembang City for 5 years (2017- 2021). The data is processed statistically to find the relationship between these two parameters with ENSO and IOD and to find their correlation. The results of this study indicate that the IOD+ and El Niño phenomena that occurred in 2018-2019 not caused an increase in air humidity values,because there are rainfall happened at that years. The La Niña that occurred in 2021-2022 also caused an increase in air humidity, but the increase was lower compared to 2018-2019. The IOD+ and El Niño phenomena in 2019 have caused an increase in air temperature. This is estimated to be due to the massive peatland fires in 2019. The 2020-2021 La Niña also causes an increase in air temperature, but the increase is not as big as the increase in 2019. It was also found that the correlation between air humidity and air temperature is weak.
