Abstract

Economic growth is an indicator of a country's economic development so that as much as possible the country pays attention to the rate of economic growth. The purpose of this study is to analyze sectors that have a comparative advantage and shifts in economic sectors on the island of Sumatra. The data used in this study is the Gross Regional Domestic Product according to the business sector of the Province on Sumatra Island in 2016-2020 using the Static Location Quotient Model, the Dynamic Locatient Quotient is used to measure comparative advantage (base and non-base sectors), and Shift Share analysis. The results showed that there were 13 basic sectors and 4 economic sectors identified as non-base sectors on Sumatra Island, meanwhile the sectors that experienced a comparative shift on Sumatra Island were sectors in Riau Province and Bangka Belitung Islands Province. In Riau Province, there were 13 sectors that experienced a comparative shift and in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province, only 8 sectors experienced a comparative shift.
