Abstract

Climate change can be minimized with the involvement of all parties. Carbon emissions also contribute to climate change. Building construction also contributes to carbon emissions in the atmosphere. Net zero carbon buildings have been recognized as the appropriate solution to reduce carbon emissions in the construction sector. As part of Generation Z, alumni and students of Civil Engineering at Sriwijaya University are also expected to actively support efforts to reduce carbon emissions through net zero carbon buildings. This research was conducted to analyze the understanding of Generation Z regarding the implementation of net zero carbon buildings. This study used a quantitative method by conducting online questionnaires containing questions related to net zero carbon buildings, and the answers to the questions were measured using a Likert scale. The data was tested for validity and reliability. Data processing included calculating the frequency and percentage of responses. The study involved 305 respondents. The research questionnaire was divided into three parts: understanding of the application of net zero carbon buildings, characteristics of net zero carbon buildings, and understanding of climate change. The study found that the majority of respondents agreed with the application of net zero carbon buildings, the majority of respondents also understood the characteristics of net zero carbon buildings, and the majority of respondents understood climate change.
