Abstract

Dental and oral health is very important to maintain because it has a big influence on the overall health of the body. Efforts that can be made to maintain healthy teeth and mouth are to maintain cleanliness and carry out periodic checks. However, there are many obstacles that cause people toignore oral health problems and result in dental and oral disease being included in the list of the top ten diseases that often occur in Indonesia. To overcome this problem, an expert system for diagnosing dental and oral diseases was developed to help people diagnose diseases as an effort to prevent dental and oral diseases. One method that is known to be suitable for overcoming the problem of uncertainty in diagnosing a disease is the Certainty Factor method. This study used 40 types of symptoms, 9 types of disease and a sample of 50 patient histories obtained from an expert who is a dentist specializing in oral diseases. Based on the test results, the developed system can diagnose dental and oral diseases and obtain the highest accuracy rate of 100% with an average confidence value of 99.45% using the Certainty Factor method.
