Abstract

Hypertension is one of the non-communicable diseases that is a problem in the health sector and is often found in primary health services, namely health centers. This study aims to determine the relationship between factors associated with the incidence of hypertension. This study used an analytic cross-sectional observational study with a cross-sectional study design. Sampling was carried out by simple random sampling. Blood pressure measurements were carried out on 90 residents in the working area of ​​the Nagaswidak Health Center. Data analysis was carried out univariate and bivariate using Chi-square test. The prevalence of hypertension in the population in the working area of ​​the Nagaswidak Health Center is 57.8%. The results of this study indicate that the variables associated with the incidence of hypertension are age (p=0.002), gender (p=0.000), obesity (p=0.004), and smoking habits (p=0.000). While the unrelated variable was family history (p=0.2. It was concluded that the factors related to the level of hypertension in the working area of ​​the Nagaswidak Health Center Palembang were age, gender, obesity and smoking habits. Changing lifestyle and doing regular blood pressure checks is necessary This is done to reduce the impact that can be caused by hypertension.
