Abstract

Urinary tract infection is an infection of microorganism in the urinary tract including the urethra, bladder, ureters, or kidneys. The main treatment for UTIs is antibiotics. The high use of antibiotics related to UTI will increase the incidence of antibiotic resistance so that the clinical desired is not achieved. Antibiotic resistance control is needed one of which is to evaluate the use of antibiotics quantitatively. The aims of this study to determine the profile of patients infected with urinary tract infection at RSI Siti Khadijah Palembang, to determine the profile of antibiotic use of patients infected urinary tract infection at RSI Siti Khadijah Palembang, and to determine the quantity of antibiotic use on urinary tract infection patients using ATC/DDD method. This research is a descriptive study conducted retrospectively using medical record data of inpatients with urinary tract infections at RSI Siti Khadijah Palembang. 38 samples of medical record were obtained and then the data were analyzed quantitatively using the ATC/DDD method. From the results of the study total value of DDD/100 patient-days inpatients is 62,43 DDD/100 patient-days with the highest antibiotic was seftriakson with 39,43 DDD/100 patient-days. Antibiotic included in the 90% segment were ceftriaxone (66,67%) and ciprofloxacin (14,67%). There is an irrational tendency towards ceftriaxone antibiotics because of the high value of DDD/100 patient-days.
