Abstract

Manggala Agni (MA) personnel are technical workers in the field during fire fighting in wetland areas who have a potential risk of work accidents and occupational diseases as a result of their work. One of the efforts to protect personnel is by providing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). However, several statements from personnel in the field complained that the PPE they used was uncomfortable to wear and actually hampered the personnel work process. The purpose of this study was to analyze the Management of Personal Protective Equipment in Manggala Agni Operational Area of Sumatra XIV, Banyuasin Regency. This type of research is descriptive with a qualitative approach. The object of this research is the management and personnel of Manggala Agni Operational Area of Sumatra XIV, Banyuasin Regency. The results of the study concluded that the Management of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in Manggala Agni Operational Area of Sumatra XIV, Banyuasin Regency has not been running as it should. Several PPE management efforts such as the process of identifying the needs and requirements of PPE and selecting PPE were not carried out or were outside the authority of Manggala Agni Operational Area Sumatra XIV, Banyuasin Regency. Therefore, it is necessary to prepare a structured and systematic internal guideline or SOP related to the management of personal protective equipment for personnel by referring to RI Ministry of Manpower and Transmigration Regulation No. 8 of 2010 concerning Personal Protective Equipment and other related laws and regulations.
