Abstract

Concrcte brick is a brick shaped building element made from the main material of Portland ccmcnt, water and aggregate that is used to manufaeture the wali. This study will diseuss the cffcct of the addition of wood dust and fly ash in the manufaeture of concrcte brieks and will be studicd comprcssivc strength, bulk density, and water absorption using quartz sand and talang balai sand. Wood dust is used with the percentage of 0%, 10%, 15%, 20%, and 30% the weight of sand, fly ash is used with percentages of 0%, and 15% the wcight of ccmcnt. The rcsults of this study indicate compressive strength of concrcte brieks with the addition of wood dust and fly ash decreased compressive strength of normal concrcte brieks. Percentage of 10% wood dust, and 15% fly ash at 28 days is the highest compressive strength of 94.87 kg/cm2 by using quartz sand and using talang balai sand Percentage 10% Wood dust, and 15% fly ash is 88.46 Kg/cm2. Addition of wood dust in the mix give great influencc on the bulk density concrcte brieks. Addition of 30% sawdust and 15% fly ash in mix concrcte brick can rcduce the weight 60% of normal weight at 28 days. Concrcte brick with a percentage of 30% wood dust and 15% fly ash had the highest percentage of water absorption.
