Abstract

Obesity in school-age children is a serious problem as it can cause various health problems that affect the child’s life quality and cause delays in their growth and development. Obesity and its accompanying diseases can be prevented by providing health education about obesity from an early age using methods appropriate to the characteristics of school-age children, one of which is game of Rotasi (Roda Putar Edukasi) Obesitas. This study aims to determine the effect game of Rotasi (Roda Putar Edukasi) Obesitas on the knowledge of elementary school students about obesity. This study is a quasy experiment with a pretest-posttest design with a control group. Stratified random sampling technique was used with 36 student samples divided into 2 groups. The paired t test results showed a p value of 0,000 (α ≤ 0,05), indicating a significant difference in the knowledge of elementary school students before and after the intervenstion in the intervenstion group. The independent t test results for both groups showed p value = 0.049 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant difference in the effect between game of Rotasi (Roda Putar Edukasi) Obesitas and lectures in increasing the knowledge of elementary school students about obesity. The results of the study showed that game of Rotasi (Roda Putar Edukasi) Obesitas and lectures could increase the knowledge of students about obesity, but the intervention group had higher average knowledge score than the control group. Game of Rotasi (Roda Putar Edukasi) Obesitas can be used as one of the health education methods to improve the knowledge of elementary school students about obesity.
