Abstract

Research on the effect of sinusoidal, rectangular, and triangular waveforms with frequency variations of 50 Hz, 100 Hz, 200 Hz, 400 Hz, and 800 Hz on the magnitude of the Partial Discharge Inception Voltage (PDIV) in epoxy resin insulating materials under alternating application voltage. In this study, tests will be carried out on samples in the form of sheets with a length x width of 50 mm each and a thickness of 1 mm. The test uses a plate electrode system with no gap between the plate electrodes and the sample surface, the number of samples used in this test is five samples for each frequency and type of wave so that the total sample is 75. The application voltage is increased slowly at a rate of 10 V/s. At a frequency of 50 Hz with each type of sine, triangular, and rectangular waves, the PDIV value was 2.337; 2.058; 2,228. Meanwhile, at a frequency of 800 Hz with each type of sine, triangular, and rectangular waves, the PDIV value is `105; 106.6; 106. The test results show that different waveforms give different electrical stress to the epoxy resin sample, this is affected by the different rise time for each wave, which wave has a rising time. which is constant produces less electrical stress. The magnitude of the frequency value has a different effect on the amount of electrical stress which causes a decrease in the Partial Discharge Inception Voltage (PDIV) value. The greater the applied frequency, the greater the electrical stress generated, therefore the faster the partial discharge will occur.
