Abstract

This research was motivated by the ability to think symbolically in recognizing numbers in children aged 5-6 years who are still low, namely the low ability of children to say number, match numbers, and write numbers. This study aims to improve symbolic thinking skill in recognizing numbers through number games in group Bchildren at KB Permata Hati Ogan Ilir.This study is a classroom action research using the Kemmis and Taggart model. The subjects of this study were group B children totaling 15 children consisting of 6 girls and 9 boys. The object studied is the ability to think symbolically in recognizing number games. Data collection is carried out through observation and documentation. Data analysis techniques use quantitative descriptive. The result showed that the use of number games can improve the ability to think symbolically in recognizing numbers. The increase can be seen from the initial condition of symbolic thinking ability in recognizing the number of group B children was in the category of developing very wall before the 6,7 % action increased to 20% in cycle I action, and in cycle II increased to 80%.
