Abstract

The patient's ability to do self-care will increase the treatment process during the treatment stages of pulmonary TB. The family has a very important role in caring for family members who suffer from pulmonary TB. The role of family support will influence the patient's decision to complete treatment or not. Families of pulmonary TB patients must have good knowledge so they can provide good support. One of the ways to increase knowledge is through health education using the SOBAT TB application. This study aims to see the effect of health education using the SOBAT TB application on the level of knowledge and family support during self-care of Pulmonary TB patients. This research is a quantitative study with a pre-experimental design using a one-group pre-posttest design. This study was conducted on 31 respondents who were family members of pulmonary TB patients at Puskesmas Taman Bacaan, Seberang Ulu II District, Palembang City. The sampling technique in this study was using a purposive sampling technique. The use of the SOBAT TB application was carried out during the 7-day research period. Based on the Wilcoxon Matched Pairs test, it shows that there is a significant effect between health education through the SOBAT TB application on the level of knowledge and family support as indicated by a p-value of 0.000 for the level of family knowledge and a p-value of 0.002 for family support (p-value <0.05). Therefore, the SOBAT TB application can be a media for health education about TB disease and self-care.
