Abstract
The prospect of farming in Damar Wulan Village has considerable potential if managed properly. Food crop groups and plantations such as rubber and oil palm are the most dominant commodities cultivated by village farmers. Horticultural plant groups, especially melon crops, are still very limited to be cultivated in this region. Therefore, the prospect of melon cultivation has a great opportunity to be able to increase the income and welfare of farmers or melon farming entrepreneurs because the price of the fruit has a relatively high price compared to similar commodities. This study aims to determine the limiting factors that affect melon plant growth and to assess the level of land suitability for melon crop on tidal overflow type C. Soil sampling points were taken with a random system of three sample points on each of the eight tertiary plots with a land area of 2 hectares in each plot using a belgi drill and then composited, and one sample point in each tertiary plot using a sample ring. Data results in this study were obtained from primary data and secondary data. Limiting factors that affect land suitability for melon plants at this research location are soil texture, soil pH, soil P-availability, soil K-availability, and rainfall/year. Maximum land management efforts, namely by providing inputs in the form of liming or adding organic matter, fertilizing, and making irrigation will increase the actual land suitability class on this research land. Keywords : Limitting Factors, Melon, Tidal Swamp Land.
