Abstract

Forage is one of the main feed needed by ruminants to meet their basic needs, reproduction and production without having a negative impact on livestock and having good palatability. Availability of forage is very dependent on nature, and inadequate quantity and quality of forage is one of the problems in livestock business. Therefore, the thing that is being cultivated is to cultivate superior forages that are capable of producing quality forages, one of which is king grass. The quality and production of king grass can be increased with bioboost fertilizer. This study aims to determine the effect of giving bioboost in the nutritional quality of king grass. This research was conducted from September to November 2022 in Kota Daro II Village, Rantau Panjang District, Ogan Ilir Regency. This study used a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with 4 treatments and 3 repetitions, namely: without giving bioboost (P0), bioboost at a dose of 40 ml/liter of water (P1), bioboost at a dose of 60 ml/liter of water (P2), bioboost at a dose of 80 ml/liter of water (P3). The results of this study indicted that bioboost had no significant effect (P>0,05) on crude fiber, crude protein, crude fat, and ash. Crude fiber content ranges from 25,84%-36,42%. Crude Protein content ranges from 4,32%-8,70%. Crude Fat content ranges from 8,56%-9,57%. Ash content ranges from 1,6%-1,9%. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that the administration of bioboost at a dose of 80 ml/liter of water has not been able to improve the nutritional quality of king grass, especially in the content of crude fiber, crude protein, crude fat, and ash.
