Abstract

This study aims to examine the performance of a 25 watt LED grow light on lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) production using a hydroponic system. This research was carried out from 19 January 2023 to 22 February 2023 at the Agricultural Energy Biosystem Laboratory and Drafting Department of Agricultural Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University and Hydroponics Permata Indralaya. The method used in this study is an experimental method with data presented descriptively in the form of pictures and tables. The parameters observed in this study include the main parameters and supporting parameters. The main parameters consist of temperature, humidity, light intensity, power requirements, electrical energy, plant height, number of leaves, leaf width, and plant fresh weight, while the supporting parameters consist of measurements of pH, TDS and plant EC. From the results of this study it was found that the performance test of a 25 watt LED grow light on the production of lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) with a floating hydroponic system resulted in the best growth of lettuce plants compared to lower power and the highest productivity of lettuce plants in control plants using light sun for 12 hours that is equal to 17.82 tons/ha and the smallest in the treatment with a long irradiation of LED grow light lamps for 20 hours that is equal to 7.11 tons/ha, but when compared in the planting box the long irradiation of 16 hours is greater and optimal i.e. 11.05 tons/ha compared to 20 hours of irradiation time.
