Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze the differences in the income of rubber farmers who join and do not join UPPB Maju Tani in Tanjung Bulan Village, Rambang Kuang District, Ogan Ilir Regency, to analyze what are the determinants that influence the decisions of rubber farmers to join and not join as members of UPPB Maju Tani, and identify the biggest reasons for rubber farmers joining and not joining as members of UPPB Maju Tani. This data collection was carried out in October 2022. The method used in this research is a survey method. The sampling method used in this study was proportional stratified random sampling with a total sample of 60 farmers consisting of 20 rubber farmers who joined UPPB Maju Tani and 40 rubber farmers who did not join UPPB Maju Tani. The results showed that there were significant differences in income for farmers who joined and did not join UPPB Maju Tani in Tanjung Bulan Village with a difference of IDR 1,464,772 per hectare per year. Factors that have a significant effect on the decisions of rubber farmers in Tanjung Bulan Village are income and capital loans, while factors that have no significant effect are length of education, farming experience, and family dependents. There are four biggest reasons for rubber farmers deciding to join as members of UPPB Maju Tani, namely better rubber prices, distance to UPPB, price transparency, and accurate weighing. Meanwhile, the four biggest reasons for rubber farmers deciding not to join UPPB members were that it was easy to get loans from middlemen, having family relationships with middlemen, having regular customers, and good waiters.
