Abstract
This study aims to see the magnitude of the potential that can be utilized from the blow fly maggot in the blood waste of the Gandus Slaughterhouse as fish and chicken feed. The research method used in this study was the action research method. In this study there was a comparison of price, protein content, buoyancy, and whether the feed is eaten by chicken and fish between purchased feed, processed feed from blow fly maggot, and feed from BSF maggot because BSF maggot is widely known for its high protein content and high price. The results showed that the production costs for making fish and chicken feed made from blow fly maggot concentrate in Gandus slaughterhouse blood waste amounted to Rp 6.513/kg. The cost of procuring feed is likely to be more efficient with a percentage of 24,5% cheaper than the price of feed usually purchased by Gandus chicken farmers and 47,3% cheaper than the price of feed usually purchased by Gandus fish farmers by utilizing this maggot as animal feed. The protein content in the feed from blow fly maggot meets the minimum standards of SNI and is almost the same as the BSF maggot content, which is 27,55%. The feeds can float on the surface for 48 hours and disintegrates after 60 hours in water. Through experiments, fish and chickens want to consume the feed that has been made.
