Abstract
The productivity of rubber plantations is generally determined by factors such as land suitability, management, human resources and production facilities. The land suitability factor is influenced by soil conditions and water availability. Soil conditions are influenced by soil properties such as the physical, chemical and biological properties of the soil. Therefore, conservation measures are needed to prevent soil damage and maintain land productivity. The purpose of this study is how the condition of several physical-chemical soil properties to different conservation patterns on rubber plantation land at PT Melania Indonesia and whether there is a relationship between several soil physical properties on different conservation patterns on PT Melania Indonesia rubber (Hevea brasiliensis) land. This research was conducted at PT Melania Indonesia, Banyuasin Regency. The time for conducting this research was from November to January 2023. The research method used in this study was a detailed survey method in the field directly. The results showed that the analysis of soil texture at the study site was dominated by clay and clayey clay. The results of the soil structure analysis were dominated by lumpy soil structure. The highest bulk density analysis results were found in the control treatment. The highest soil permeability analysis results were found in the vegetative conservation pattern (Mucuna bracteata). The highest yield of organic matter analysis was found in the vegetative conservation pattern (Mucuna bracteata). The results of the correlation analysis of permeability and bulk density are moderate correlation and the relationship between the two variables is negative. The results of the correlation analysis of organic matter and permeability are very strong correlation and the relationship between the two variables is positive and the results of the correlation analysis of organic matter and bulk density are the strong correlation and the relationship between the two variables is negative. The results of this study suggest that it is better to add organic matter, plant vetiver grass as a terrace strengthening plant and treat rubber plants specifically to improve the physical, chemical and biological properties of the soil for sustainable land use and increase maximum production. Strengthening terraces and treating rubber plants specifically to improve the physical, chemical and biological properties of the soil for sustainable land use and to increase maximum production.
