Abstract
The intensity of rainfall in the city of Padang Panjang is quite high which is influenced by its geographical location, so that the high intensity of rainfall which can change in a short time will affect the continuity of people's lives and the impacts experienced due to the El-Nino Southern Oscillation (ENSO) phenomenon and the Indian Ocean Dipole ( IOD) which affects the amount of rainfall in Indonesia. Rainfall trend analysis is to determine the trend of consecutive dry days, consecutive wet days, so that the analysis obtained is useful for weather forecasting and knowing rainfall patterns. The high rainfall intensity even reached 4857 mm which occurred in 2017, while the average rainfall intensity in Padang Panjang City was 3295 mm per year. From the results of the study, Padang Panjang City experienced the impact of the IOD phenomenon that occurred in the Indian Ocean. Rainfall is classified as high with the number of rainy days more than days without rain, but the tendency of rainfall is negative or decreasing with a tendency of 0.6786 mm each year. The highest rain intensity occurred in January 2015 with an intensity of 146.9 mm which was classified as very heavy rain. The rainfall pattern for the Padang Panjang City area has 2 peaks of rain that occur in April and November.
