Abstract

Evaluation of fungal rhizosphere of pepper and eggplant as plant growth-promoting fungi (PGPF) were studied. Most mwdium used for isolation of fungi was more or less effective in isolating rhizosphere fungi of pepper and eggplant grown in swampy soil. All rhizosphere fungi tested had various capable of pronoting plant groth of pepper. They enhanced plant growth ranged from 0-60% compare to control. Among 6 times tests where each test consisted of 25 isolates, 42 isolates belong to genera Trichoderma (12 isolates), Penicillium (7 isolates), Fusarium (8 isolates), Phoma (3 isolates), sterile fungi (9 isolates) and unidentified fungi (3 isolates), were capable of enhancing plant growth in nursery test. These results indicated that isolates of rhizosphare fungi isolated from pepper and eggplant grown swampy soil have greater potential as PGPF.
