Abstract

This study aimed to know the effect of several biochar and goat manure on the growth and yield of cauliflower (Brassica oleracea var. Botrytis L.) and weed growth. This research was carried out at Palembang, South Sumatra, from September to December 2022. This research was conducted using a factorial randomized block design consisting of 2 factors and 3 replications. The first factor was the doses of biochar with 3 treatments, namely B1 = without biochar, B2 = Biochar 20 tons ha-1, and B3 = Biochar 25 tons ha-1. The second factor was goat manure with 3 treatments, namely K1 = 15 tons ha-1 goat manure, K2 = 20 tons ha-1 goat manure and K3 = 25 tons ha-1 goat manure. The result showed that the use of biochar at a dose of 20 tons ha-1 and goat manure at a dose of 20 tons ha-1 gave the best effect on the growth and yield of cauliflower plants based on the highest yields on plant height, number of leaves, age of flowering, age harvest, flower diameter, and flower weight. Before the treatment the dominant weed species growing was Imperata cylindrica, after the treatment the dominant weed growing was Phyllanthus urinasia. There was a change in the species of weeds that grew before and after the treatment, there were 3 species of weeds that did not grow after the treatment and there were 2 species of new weeds that grew after the treatment. The best results were found in the B2K2 treatment with a dose of 20 tons ha-1.
