Abstract
Adolescent fertility is an important issue in terms of health and social aspect, because adolescent fertility can affect to maternal and children mortality and morbidity rates. Adolesecent fertility has a negative impact globally and personally. According to the WHO (World Health Organization) adolescent fertility rate of 15-19 years in 2018 are 44/ 1000 woman, and in Indonesia based on data from Indonesian Demographic and Health Survey (IDHS) 2017 the number of adolescent fertility are 36 per 1000 woman. That rate is still high compared to other countries of ASEAN, beside that adolescent fertility is a contributor to the high rate of stunting, as well as maternal and infant mortality. The purpose of this study was todetermine the prevalence of adolescent fertility in Indonesia, to know the factors that influence adolescent fertility, and then find out the most dominant factor that affect to adolescent fertility. The study design used in this study is cross sectional. The data used was the result of Indonesian Demography and Health Survey (IDHS) in 2017, with units of analysis included women of childbearing age in the adolescent group 15-19 years. Total sample that meet of the inclusion and exclusion criteria is 7234 respondent. The analysis was performed by univariate, bivariate and multivariate analysis using by complex sample in SPSS software. The prevalence of adolescent fertility incidence in Indonesia based on the 2017 IDHS data is 4.9%. The result of the bivariate analysis of this study indicate that there is a relationship between areas of residence (p-value = 0.000) , education (p-value = 0.000), current contraseptive status (p-value = 0.000), marital status (p-value = 0.000), age of first intercouse (p-value = 0.007), working status (p-value = 0.023) and economic social status (p-value = 0.000) with adolescent fertility incidence in Indonesia. Based of the multivariate analysis results indicate that economic status is the most dominant factor in the incidence of adolescent fertility in Indonesia. Therefore, the government should expand access to higher levels of formal education and the provision of creative economic business training for young women to reduce the rate of marriage in adolescence, thereby reducing the risk of adolescent fertility incident.
