Abstract

PT Semen Baturaja (Persero) Tbk in fulfilling the needs of cement raw materials in the form of limestone conducting its own mining activities. Mining activities will have an impact on the surrounding environment. Positive impacts arising from mining activities such as increasing the opinion of the surrounding community, opening up employment opportunities, and so forth. Meanwhile the negative impacts caused are changes in the natural order and color of the earth, noise, air pollution, water quality degradation, and others. Good void management will contribute positively to the efforts of mine reclamation management, land revegetation success and regional succession, and regional hygiene. The plan to restore the function of the land carried out in this study is to convert a part of the voids into freshwater aquaculture ponds, as an indicator of the water contained in the former mining pits (voids) remaining safe and not harmful to the environment and surrounding communities. Based on the calculation, the volume of voids at mine closure is estimated at 36,796,401.48 m3, with a void depth of 68 m. The volume of voids at the mine closure was estimated at 25,168,738.61 m3. Based on the incoming water debit, as well as the volume of voids, it can be concluded that the former mine pits will be filled with water within 4.8 months. The results of the water sample test at the inlet showed two inorganic chemical parameters that did not meet the water requirements namely, nitrite content (NO2) and sulfide content (H2S). The results of the water sample test at the outlet showed one inorganic chemical parameter that did not meet the water requirements namely nitrite content (NO2). Parameters that do not comply with the conditions must be adjusted in advance by treatment. Water treatment is intended so that the water meets the requirements proposed by the government, and water is not harmful to the environment and tilapia to be cultivated.
