Abstract

Indonesia is a country with abundant mineral and nickel resources, therefore there are many mines in Indonesia with the aim of obtaining these mineral and nickel resources. One of the many minerals found in Indonesia is nickel. Indonesia is a country with the largest reserves of nickel ore in the world. Around 23.7% of the world's nickel reserves are in the country (Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, 2019). Most of the nickel in Indonesia is found in Central Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi and North Maluku. As a result of the large number of nickel reserves in Indonesia, in the future there will be more and more nickel mineral mining in Indonesia. Economic value is all costs including investment costs and a number of costs that can be calculated in monetary terms since entering the productive period until the productive period of the activity ends. The intended economic value is the investment expressed in the form of a money value that will be used as material for the preparation of cash flows consisting of total investment (capital cost), income, operating costs, working capital, depreciation, and others ( Rochmanhadi, 1985). PT. Tonia Mitra Sejahtera is a company engaged in nickel mining and processing which contributes to the world's supply of nickel. PT. Tonia Mitra Sejahtera, has sufficient mechanical equipment operations, so that the daily production target can be achieved. PT. Tonia Mitra Sejahtera targets a nickel ore production target of 1.500.000 tons per year. The benefits in analyzing the economics of mining in opening a mining business in terms of the size of the investment, the feasibility of the investment can be used as an illustration for the costs and economic analysis in opening a nickel mining business. The amount of tangible investment costs at PT. Tonia Mitra Sejahtera $ 16,062,218, intangible investment costs of $ 21,738,006, operational costs of $ 20,932,775/year. From the investment analysis, it was obtained a net present value (NPV) of $25,527,892, a present value ratio (PVR) of 0.68, an internal rate of return of 35.4%, a payback period (PBP) of 2.64 years, and a ratio of 0.6. From these figures, the investment plan to open a nickel mine at PT Tonia Mitra Sejahtera can be implemented. Kata Kunci: Economy, investment, mining, nickel, NPV, IRR, PBP, Ratio.
