Abstract

The background of this research comes from the problem faced by the private universities in Palembang which have not been accredited on its institution. Those private universities are mostly scored C and most of the major also get C on accreditation. This study aims to find out the performance of Private Universities Coordination region II in order to develop private universities in Palembang. especially to provide high quality education in private universities. The research uses the qualitaitve method and descriptive analysis technique. The data collected by using in-dept interview, observation and documentation. This research also uses performance theory by Mahmudi that has four indicators, they are input, output, outcome, and impact. The result of this study shows that the performance of Private Universities Coordination region II in developing private univerities in Palembang is quite good because from eight indicators, it is only three which has not accomplished yet. By this research we hope Private Universities Coordination region II can improve the development activities program and take control on the management of private universities in Palembang in order to realize the good quality of private univerisies in Palembang.
