Abstract

Eucheuma cottonii (Kappaphycus alvarezi) seaweed is one commodity that has high economic value. Cultivation techniques can be done in several ways including floating raft and long line methods. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the growth rate of E.cottonii seaweed with different seed weights (50 gr, 100 gr, and 150 gr) using floating raft and long line methods. This research was conducted in August-October 2017 in the Hurun Bay of Lampung. The results of the research data were analyzed using a completely randomized design followed by one way ANOVA. Growth measurements are carried out once every week for 42 days. Water parameters measured include DO, pH, salinity, brightness, nitrate, phosphate, temperature and current velocity. The results showed 50 gr seedling weight had the highest growth with an average daily growth of 2.15%, weekly growth of 72 gr and absolute growth of 72 gr. As for the pananaman method, the floating raft method gives better results than the long line.
