Abstract

Retention pond is one of the efforts in the prevention and mitigation of flooding by accommodating the excess water in certain areas with the aim of excess water can be absorbed into the soil. Kambang Iwak retention pond is one of the retention pond located in the city of Palembang and is located in the middle of residential and public infrastructure. During the years 2006 - 2015 has occurred silting in retention ponds. Siltation is one result of erosion. In this study will be calculated the rate of erosion and the amount of sediment formed results using USLE method. The purpose of this study was to menghitunglaju soil loss per year during the period 2006 - 2015 and calculate the results of sediment caused by erosion of the land. From the research results that the rate of erosion that occurred during the years 2006 - 2015 amounted to 47.539 tons / km2. With the pace of erosion of the sediments occur as result of 15.534 tons / km2. While the average rate - average annual erosion amounted to 3.3558 tons / km . With the results of the sediment Average - Average happened was 1.534 tons / km2. Increased erosion rate occurred in 2010, which amounted to 10.79 tons / km2. One of the factors that led to this increase rainfall by 2010 is high. The results showed that, in order to obtain a condition where the retention pond can work optimally is to normalize at least once a year.
