Abstract

Crude Palm Oil (CPO) is an important commodity for Indonesia. However, recently there has been a protectionist policy carried out by the European Union for Indonesian CPO products because they are considered not environmentally friendly. This European Union policy is called the European Green Deal. Whereas on the one hand the countries in the European Union are quite large importers of Indonesian CPO. This policy from the European Union can certainly have a big influence on Indonesia's CPO exports themselves. Therefore in this study aims to analyze and explore the influence of the European Green Deal policy on Indonesian CPO exports in the European Union. This study uses qualitative research methods and protectionism theory. The results of this study indicate that there are three European Green Deals for Indonesian CPO products, namely in terms of economic losses, increased production costs, and decreased commodity value and confidence in Indonesian CPO products. However, Indonesia is still trying to adjust to the standards of the European Union.
