Abstract

This study discusses efforts to improve bilateral relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran in 2019-2022. So this study aims to find out how the process of the two countries' efforts in resolving conflicts and rebuilding good relations as neighboring countries. Qualitative methods are used in conducting this research to describe reality by using secondary types of data through documents, data collection in documentation studies, and the validity of data by triangulation. The data obtained were analyzed using the concept of peace by Johan Galtung. The results of this study are seen through an approach to peace consisting of peacekeeping, peacemaking, and peacebuilding. In the peacemaking approach there were meetings between Saudi Arabia and Iran mediated by Iraq, then in the peacebuilding approach there was an offer to change relations but reconstruction had not been fully realized, while in the peacekeeping approach there was no intervention from thrid parties. So that the results obtained in an effort to improve relations between the two countries have not been maximized because an agreement has not been reached. However, the rivalry between Saudi Arabia and Iran has decreased so that the state of the Middle East region has become quite stable.
