Abstract

ABSTRACT The purpose of this research is to examine and reveal what traditions are carried out during Eid by the people in Kemang Village, Musi Banyuasin, South Sumatra. The method used by the author in this study is a historical method where the historical method consists of four stages namely heuristics, source criticism, interpretation, and historiography. After conducting the study, the data obtained, namely Kemang Village is a village located in Sanga Desa District, Musi Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra Province, this village is 190 km from the city of Palembang. Broadly speaking, there are three routine traditions during Eid that are carried out by the indigenous people of Kemang Village and overseas people in Kemang Village, namely the tradition of lemmang, Sanjo, and grave pilgrimage. In the tradition of lemang or making Lemang, it is generally done two days or the day before Eid, Sanjo is basically done after Eid prayers, while the grave pilgrimage is done in the afternoon of Eid. These activities are carried out regularly and have become a hereditary tradition by the people of Kemang Village every time before Eid. Keyword: Tradition, Eid, Kemang, Musi Banyuasin
