Abstract
The skewer industry is one of the industries that has the potential to cause air pollution so it can have an impact on the health of workers. The purpose of this study was to analyze the factors that influence respiratory complaints in skewer production workers at CV Serumpun Bambu. This research method is quantitative with univariate and bivariate analysis and a cross-sectional design approach. The sample of this research were 46 respondents working at CV Serumpun Bambu using a total sampling technique. The data collection method uses a sensidyne nephelometer measuring instrument and a questionnaire. As many as 29 workers (63%) producing skewers at CV Serumpun Bambu experienced respiratory problems. The results of the bivariate analysis showed that there was a relationship between the use of PPE masks (p-value 0.008) and smoking behavior (p-value 0.005), while there was no relationship between total dust content (p-value 0.524), age (p-value 1.000), level of education (p-value 0.737), length of exposure (p-value 0.619), and knowledge (p-value 0.778) with complaints of respiratory problems in skewer production workers at CV Serumpun Bambu. Based on these results it is known that the variable use of PPE masks and smoking behavior are variables that influence complaints of respiratory problems in skewer production workers at CV Serumpun Bambu.
