Abstract
The purpose of this research is to improve the writing skills of third grade students of SDN 17 Palembang through daily journal activities. This research uses Classroom Action Research method (PTK) using 2 cycle of action. Data collection techniques used are tests and observations. The result of the research shows that the value of writing skill of narration of students has increased, it can be seen from the students ' learning completeness in the first cycle of 60% with an average value of 62, in the second cycle of student learning completeness increased up to 72% 74.2. This is supported by the observation, the activeness of students who have increased, in cycle I the percentage of active students in learning reached 66.85% with active category, in the second cycle increased to 81.71% with the category very active. So, it can be concluded that through the application of learning techniques Daily Journal can improve the skills of writing essay writing and learning activities of students class III SDN 17 Palembang.
