Abstract

The problem that is often faced by Indonesian farmers is plant pest organisms (OPT). Tropical climate conditions strongly support the development of plant-disturbing organisms. The negative impacts of using chemical pesticides include environmental pollution (which can include soil, water or air contamination), pest attacks becoming resistant or tolerant to pesticides, as well as other negative impacts (Kardinan, 2011). This study aims to determine the effect of bintaro fruit extract (Cerbera odollam) on crickets (Gryllus sp.) and to determine the effect of the effective concentration level of bintaro fruit ethanol extract on cricket (Gryllus sp.) mortality. Bintaro fruit (Cerbera odollam) biopesticide research and mortality on crickets (Gryllus sp.) was carried out from September 2022 to December 2022. Extract preparation and phytochemical tests were carried out at the Genetics and Biotechnology Laboratory, Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Sriwijaya University. Bintaro fruit extract testing on crickets was carried out at the Animal Biosystematics Laboratory. Data collection was carried out every 24 hours after the application of Bintaro fruit extract to the feed. Observations were made for 1 x 24 hours. Observations include the number of individuals that died at each concentration. The data taken is the number of deaths of crickets (Gryllus sp.). Cricket mortality (Gryllus sp.) is expressed as a percentage. The ethanol extract of bintaro fruit (Cerbera odollam) is considered effective as a vegetable insecticide. Because it contains a combination of active compounds that are toxic to crickets (Gryllus sp.) The ethanol extract of bintaro fruit (Cerbera odollam) has an LC100 value of 3% and 5% at 24 hours.
