Abstract

ABSTRACT The low motivation of students can be caused by monotonous learning where students only receive material without being much involved in the process. One of the efforts that can be done is to apply the Gamification learning model. This study aims to prove the effect of Gamification learning model on students' learning motivation at SMA Negeri 2 Palembang. This research is an experimental quantitative research with Pre-Experimental Design research design in the form of One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The population in this study were all students of class XI IPS at SMA Negeri 2 Palembang. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling technique with the research sample being students of class XI IPS 3. The data collection techniques used were questionnaires and observations. Data obtained from pretest questionnaires and posttest questionnaires given to students to see the significant effect of the application of the Gamification learning model and observation data obtained from the results of observations when applying the Gamification learning model. The results of hypothesis testing using the paired sample t-test show that the t_hitung value ≥ t_tabel, namely 8.3964 ≥ 1.6895, which means Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is an effect of the Gamification learning model on student learning motivation at SMA Negeri 2 Palembang so that the use of the Gamification learning model is highly recommended. The existence of learning motivation can foster enthusiasm in participating in learning activities so as to increase learning success. Educators should ensure that all students can access their gadgets before carrying out learning as an effort to sustain an optimal learning process.
