Abstract
This study is an experimental research that aims to determine the effect of learning with matemtika modeling approach to argumentation abilities of students. Population in this research was students of junior high school number 15 Palembang. The sample was graders VIII.4 and VIII.5 that selected randomly. VIII.5 class was chosen as an experimental class with mathematical modeling study, whereas VIII.4 class was as a class control with conventional learning. Data collection techniques used were test, documentation, and interviews. The test was used to determine the ability of argumentation students after studying the mathematical approach to the material pemodelam prism pyramid, and after the test results were analyzed, interviews of students were conducted to test very well categorized and very less associated with the answer when students did the test. Data analysis showed that the experimental class students' ability arguments were better than the control class. Based on these results, it can be concluded that learning with mathematical modeling approaches affect the ability of argumentation students with an average of 85.63.
