Abstract

Various medical services and other supporting services carried out can produce various types of Hazardous and Toxic Waste (B3) every day. BAM Hospital carries out waste management consisting of minimization, sorting, storage and transportation. BAM Hospital no longer uses incinerators which are known as tools to destroy waste, so cooperation with third parties is carried out. The purpose of this study is to analyze the management of Hazardous and Toxic Waste (B3) at Bukit Asam Medika Hospital Tanjung Enim Year 2023. The research used qualitative methods with data collection techniques in the form of in-depth interviews, observations, and document reviews. The informants of this research numbered two key informants and eight ordinary informants. The data validity tests used are source triangulation, data triangulation and method triangulation. The results showed that the transportation of waste was carried out by a third party, namely PT. Teman Sejahtera Abadi where on the waste transport car there is a GPS to monitor its whereabouts to the waste destruction site. In B3 waste management, there are still discrepancies, namely the absence of cleaning the trash can with disinfectantn and there is no logo on the waste plastic bag. Based on this study, it can be concluded that the management of hazardous and toxic waste (B3) at Bukit Asam Medika Hospital is quite good, but there are still some activities that have not been carried out optimally. The advice that can be given is that the hospital must carry outefforts to spray disinfectants and provide infectious symbols and labels on yellow waste plastic bags and must carry out reduction activities at the source.
