Abstract

This thesis entitled Implementation of Wildlife Trade Handling conducted by BKSDA South Sumatra. The background of this study is that there are still many illegal wildlife that are traded freely and most of them are protected animals where the population in nature is depleted. Research type used is descriptive with qualitative research method. Data collection used is by interview and documentation techniques. The theory used in this research is the theory of policy implementation according to Ripley and Franklin, where the success of policy implementation is influenced by three aspects namely the level of compliance, the smoothness of the routine function, as well as the performance and impact of the desired implementation. The results showed that the implementation of illegal wildlife trade handling conducted by BKSDA South Sumatra has not been maximally seen from the first aspect is the level of Compliance where in the handling of illegal wildlife trade is still a lot of protected animals that are traded. The second aspect is the smooth functioning of the routine is already running well and only has some obstacles in uncovering the network of these wildlife traders. The third aspect of performance and impact in performance has already been working with related agencies but has few barriers to disclosure and from the impacts of many cases that occur throughout the year 2016-2017. This research suggests to BKSDA South Sumatera that Natural Resources Conservation Center must disguise as a buyer or seller of illegal wildlife to make it easier to track the unscrupulous traders in black market or social media so they believe and will be easier in eradicating their network.
