Abstract

The research objective was to determine the performance of defibering coconut machine at various rotation speed of blade and conditions of the material. It was conducted from November 2017 to January 2018 at Sri Tiga Village Sumber Marga Telang Subdistrict Banyuasin Regency. This research used Factorial Randomized Block Design with 2 treatment factors and three replications. The first factor was green-skinned coir recently pared (A1) and the green-skinned coir stored for one week (A2), whereas the second factor was rotational speed ± 1100 rpm (B1), ± 1400 rpm (B2) and ± 1700 rpm (B3). The observed parameters were effective capacity of the engine, fuel consumption, and yield of the decomposition. The results showed that the lowest effective capacity was found on A1B1 with magnitude of 1,338.24 kg per hour, whereas the highest one was found on A2B3 treatment with magnitude of 2,452.75 kg per hour. The lowest fuel consumption was found on A1B1 with magnitude of 38.26 L per hour, whereas the highest one was found on A2B3 treatment with magnitude of 44.34 L per hour. The lowest yield of rendement from treatment A1B3, that is equal to 65.33%, while the highest value is in treatment A2B2, that is equal to 81.58%. The treatment of rotational speed and the condition of the material gives a very real effect on the yield of the decomposition, whereas the treatment of the material conditions gives no significant effect on the engine's effective capacity and fuel consumption. Combination interaction of rotation speed and material condition has no significant effect on engine effective capacity, fuel consumption, and yield of decomposition.
