Abstract

Preparation of NiAl, ZnAl, NiAl Magnetite Humic Acid (NiAl-MHA) and ZnAl Magnetite Humic Acid (ZnAl-MHA) were successful as evidenced by the characterization using FTIR, XRD, VSM, SEM-EDX, and BET analysis. Fe atom appears after compositing into NiAl-MHA and ZnAl-MHA indicating the magnetic properties of the composite, while %wt C atoms increase indicates the carbon group of humic acid. After 5 times regeneration of NiAl-MHA and ZnAl-MHA, the adsorption percentages of congo red were 95.93 % and 97.29 %, respectively. These results increase the effectiveness of NiAl-LDH and ZnAl-LDH, which decreased in effectiveness after 5 regeneration cycles, from 57.89 to 21.43 % and 76.99 – 53.24 %, respectively. The correlation coefficient value confirmed that the adsorption of congo red using ZnAl, NiAl-MHA, and ZnAl-MHA followed PSO, NiAl followed PFO and Langmuir Isotherm model. The maximum adsorption capacities of NiAl, ZnAl, NiAl-MHA, and ZnAl-MHA to adsorb congo red were 58.823 mg/g, 48.978 mg/g, 135.135 mg/g, and 178.571 mg/g, respectively.
