Abstract

The incidence of diarrhea in toddlers in Empat Lawang Regency is the 10 most common diseases, Tebing Tinggi District occupies the 4th level with a total of 1.569 cases. Diarrhea is a disease of digestive disorders due to contamination by E.coli bacteria. One of the causes is poor environmental sanitation dan the population that is susceptible to diarrheal disease is toddlers. This study aims to analyze the factors of environmental sanitation facilities with the incidence of diarrhea in toddlers in Jayaloka Village, Tebing Tinggi District, Empat Lawang Regency. This research method is quantitative with a cross sectional research design. The sample of this research is 83 respondents with the sampling technique that is cluster sampling. The data obtained, univariate dan bivariate analysis was performed using SPSS in the chi-square test. The research variables are clean water facilities, human waste disposal facilities (latrines), household waste management, Wastewater Sewerage (SPAL) dan floor types. The results of the study found that clean water facilities (p-value = 0.027), latrines (p-value = 0.035) dan sewerage (p-value = 0.034) had a significant relationship with the incidence of diarrhea in toddlers in Jayaloka Village. Meanwhile household waste management (p-value = 1.000) dan floor type (p-value = 0.207) have no significant relationship with the incidence of diarrhea in toddlers in Jayaloka Village. It was concluded that the incidence of diarrhea in Jayaloka Village was influenced by the availability of clean water sources, healthy latrines dan good waste water disposal facilities. The suggestion of this research is to conduct research on clean dan healthy living behavior in mothers who have toddlers.
