Abstract

Coral reefs had main role as as habitat, nursery and spawning ground for many coastal organisms. Many fish especially from Chaetodontidae family live together with coral reefs. This research was conducted in Kelagian Island, Province of Lampung. The method that used for the data retrieval was using the quadrant transect combined with line intercept transect method was used to get data of coral reef coverage. The video belt transect method was used to find data of fish abundance. The research result showed that the condition of the coral reefs categorized as low category with coral reef coverage percentage was 31.33% - 32.93% and the abundance of Chaetodontidae fish only 100 ind/ha. The relationship between coral reef and the abundance of Chaetodontidae family fish indicated that the low percentage value of live coral reefs affected the low abundance of Chaetodontidae family fish
