Abstract

This study discusses the "Empowerment of Peasants Community Through Peasant Group Program (Gapoktan) in Tanjung Gelam Village, Ogan llir Regency". The problem studied in this research is how the empowerment of peasants community through program of Joint Farmer Group (Gapoktan) in Tanjung Gelam village of Ogan llir Regency. This research is qualitative research qualitative descriptive, unit analysis used is society. Inspection techniques and data validity using Triangulation Technique Source, Data and Method. Result of research indicate that empowering peasant society seen from 4 approach that is approach of strengthening, protection, support and maintenance. As for strengthening approach, empowerment done by government by giving counseling or assisting peasant through extension activity and training and development of business network through cooperation. Gapoktan in Tanjung Gelam Village has not been fully protected due to the many things that still impose on the peasant. The government support approach provides assistance in the form of plant seeds, agricultural tools that can support the development of Gapoktan, and the provision of fertilizer. While from maintenance approach that is still happened difference like existence of class of peasants group which distinguish ability between Peasant group.
