Abstract

In this thesis the title to be appointed is The Rubber Farmers' Family Strategy ln Facing Price Fluctuations in Bitis Village, Gelumbang Sub-District, Muara Enizn District. Problem taken in this research is how the characteristics of rubber farming families and bow the family strategy of rubber farmers in facing the price fluctuations in Bitis Village, Gelumbang Sub-District, Muara Enizn District. This research is a descriptive qualitative research. Descriptive research aims to describe the reality of the problems studied and this study was conducted purposively. Data collection techniques in this study using observation, in-depth interviews and documentation. After doing the research, obtained data about family characteristics of rubber fanners consist of education data, income data, expenditure data and total dependents. In adcli lion, through this research can be known about how the family strategy of rubber farmers in facing the price fluctuations. The strategies include home-based food, wooden depots, oyster mushroom cultivation, home gardening to grow various types of vegetable food, and raising livestock as a strategy to reduce family expencliture. In addition to this strategy there are also several families of rubber farmers who borrow money to face price fluctuations. They borrow from neighbors or relatives, while others borrow money from Jouke as a network strategy to meet the urgent needs of rubber farming families.
