Abstract

As a country that has cultural diversity and a large area, Indonesia makes every community must have good adaptation skills to survive in all situations. Meanwhile, culture shock is one of the phenomena felt by most people, including students, which can be a challenge in adapting when entering a new environment or encountering a different culture. This study is a quantitative research that examines more deeply to determine the effect between culture shock that occurs in new students on adaptability. A total of 103 new students of the Guidance and Counseling Study Program class of 2022 became the research sample determined by saturated sampling. The data collection method in this study used a Likert scale research instrument, the data analysis technique used in this study was simple linear regression. Based on the analysis that has been done, the results show that there is a significant influence between culture shock on the ability to adapt in students of the Guidance and Counseling Study Program class of 2022.
