Abstract

Karimunjawa waters is part of water territory of Java Sea that has heigh potency of renewable and nonrenewable resources. The latest information about chemistry characteristic in Karimunjawa water was still limited. The objective of this research was to study about characteristic and distribution pattern of nutrient (Nitrate and Phosphat), and Dissolved oxygen in Karimunjawa waters. This research has been done in April 2009 by using RV. Baruna Jaya VIII at 13 observation stations. The water sampel was taken using Rossete sampler that provided with bottle Niskin at surface and sub-surface (near bottom). The nitrate and phosphate content were analisis with Spektrofotometry method at wavelength 543 nm and 885 nm. Dissolved oxygen was analyzed by Winkler titration method. The Result showed that nitrate, phosphate and dissolved oxygen of Karimunjawa waters were normal and good for sea organisms living. Statistical analysis indicated that nitrate was differrence between in surface layer with near bottom. Phosphate and dissolved oxygen weren’t differrence between surface layers with near bottom. Fluctuation of those parameters were influenced by input from the land, plankton and sea organism activity, and mass movement of water.
