Abstract

Industrial cement activities produce B3 waste that had a negative impact on workers, the community and the surrounding environment if it is not managed properly. Therefore this study aims to analyze the management of Hazardous and Toxic Waste at PT. Semen Baturaja (Persero) Tbk. This study type is qualitative research using 8 participants as informants that worked together who were selected using a purposive sampling technique. Interviews method data collection accompanied by interview guidelines, observation using a checklist sheets, and document review from company documents related to B3 waste. Data validity consists of triangulation of sources, methods, and data. The results showed that the cement production process at PT. Semen Baturaja uses a dry production process and from the results of these production activities produces B3 waste The management of B3 waste includes activities to minimize reduce or change the use of TL lamps to LED lamps. Most of the B3 waste have been carried out by applicable regulations, but there are still some discrepancies in the completeness of packaging for B3 waste. B3 waste collection activities are carried out by the producing party, for B3 waste that cannot be utilized will be handed over to the third collecting party. Transportation activities from B3 waste generators to TPS use pickup trucks, while B3 waste that cannot be processed further will be transported by a third party, namely PT. X uses a tronton car. Utilization activities take the form of reuse of B3 waste produced as a substitute for raw materials and energy sources. The conclusion shows that the B3 waste management carried out by PT. Semen Baturaja has referred to Government Regulation Number 22 of 2021 concerning Implementation, Protection and Management of the Environment and other regulations as a support, but there is still a slight discrepancy in the closing equipment for B3 waste packaging activities.
