Abstract

Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan warna buah dengan mutu fisiologis benih jarak pagar (Jatropha curcas L.). Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Oktober sampai dengan bulan Desember 2008 di Laboratorium Teknologi Benih Jurusan Budidaya Pertanian Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Sriwijaya. Rancangan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan empat perlakuan dan lima ulangan. Perlakuan terdiri dari warna buah hijau kekuningan (Wi), warna buah kuning (W2), warna buah kuning kecoklatan (W3) dan warna buah hitam (W4). Peubah yang diamati adalah kecepatan berkecambah (etmal), daya berkecambah (%), keseragaman tumbuh (%), bobot kering kecambah (g). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa warna buah kuning (W2) memberikan mutu fisiologis terbaik yang ditunjukkan oleh peubah kecepatan berkecambah (21,05 %), daya berkecambah (84 %), keseragaman tumbuh (78 %), bobot kering kecambah (4,73 g).
