Abstract

This study aims to see the relationship between the economic interaction of the Southern Sumatra region and its hiterlan region. The analysis method used is gravity which is used to see the interaction of regions. The panel data regression model was also used to see the relationship between distance, population and economic interaction in Southern Sumatra. Regression panel data using GRDP, Number of Population and Distance variables. The results of research with gravity models show that the Bangka Belitung Islands Province has the lowest interaction with its growth center, South Sumatra. Meanwhile, Lampung Province has the highest interaction with its growth center. Then based on regression panel data shows that distance variables have a positive and insignificant relationship to economic growth, population variables and GRDP have a positive and significant relationship to economic interaction.
